In support of

My family

by Pamella Hamnett

This photo was taken after a difficult year in 2016. My eldest daughter had been in hospital, in intensive care following complications from diabetic ketone acidosis. She was on life support and at one point they told us that her liver was failing, and we should prepare for the worst. She was transferred to Addonbrookes, Cambridge. We watched for days as she fought for her life. She found the strength within her, with the help from amazing medical staff to pull through. I didn’t sleep or leave her side. So when I look at this picture I am reminded of how important family is to me, especially my children even when they think they are all grown up and don’t need mum around so much anymore.
